HOW CHARGE WORKS / A CLEARER NEXT MOVE
Good information.
Better decisions.
A station record, your next stop and the information you choose to keep. Here is what each part of Charge can tell you.
01 / YOUR NEXT STOP
Find a place. Keep your record.
Public discovery searches U.S. station records by city or ZIP code, state, listed connector and selected network. You can request nearby stations using an approximate location. The station map appears after actual records arrive.
Read a station’s recorded details, open its location in STATIC Maps or deliberately carry the station into My Charge. Your private workspace lets you keep vehicle preferences, declared chargers and manually entered charging information together.
Explore the finder ↗02 / KEEP THE SOURCE IN VIEW
A public record has a context.
Charge queries the public Bureau of Transportation Statistics station service carrying Alternative Fuels Data Center / NLR records. Discovery is currently limited to public U.S. electric-vehicle station listings marked operational by that source.
Operational is a directory classification. It does not tell us whether a plug is free, the equipment is working right now, the property is open or your vehicle is authorized to use it. Restricted hours and other access conditions can still apply.
Station-confirmed dates and station-updated dates are distinct from the time STATIC checked a response. A missing source value remains unreported. Cached responses are identified when the service reports them; the record count and dates are taken from actual source responses.
Results are paginated. Pins show the station records on the current result page. Nearby distances, when supplied, are straight-line distances from the rounded search point, not driving distance or an estimated detour.
Underlying station-data documentation ↗03 / BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
Check more than the plug.
Connector and vehicle.
Confirm your actual vehicle inlet, supported charging standard and approved adapter. A connector filter or saved preference is not a compatibility guarantee.
Access and working equipment.
Review the operator’s current information, property access, hours and restrictions. Charge does not provide a live occupancy or uptime feed in this release.
Current price.
Recorded pricing may be incomplete or outdated. Confirm the current tariff, idle and parking fees, taxes, payment method and operator terms before starting a session.
The whole journey.
Opening a station in STATIC Maps passes its public coordinates as a place query. It does not begin navigation, calculate arrival battery charge, optimize charging stops or establish that your EV can complete the route.
04 / A LOCATION YOU CHOOSE TO SHARE
Your precise GPS is not the starting point.
Opening Charge or searching a city does not request device location. The approximate-location button explicitly asks your browser for permission. Coordinates are rounded to two decimal places before the station request leaves the browser.
STATIC forwards the station query to the BTS data service. Your city/filter query or rounded search area is therefore processed by STATIC and that source. No background location watch or route tracking is started by Charge.
When a map is shown, the browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap. The tile provider can receive your IP address and the map areas being viewed. External operator and source links open their own services, with their own privacy practices.
Finder state is kept in the current page rather than a device-local location history. Saving a public station is a separate action in your account workspace. Never enter payment credentials, charger control secrets or sensitive personal material into ordinary record notes.
05 / YOUR OWN INFORMATION
A record you can understand.
My Charge uses your existing STATIC identity. Email sign-in and the shared STATIC account route remain available through the normal account screen. Public discovery does not require an account.
Vehicle preferences, declared charging equipment and manually recorded sessions describe what you supplied. They are not a vehicle telemetry feed, a certified meter reading, an operator-issued receipt or proof of reimbursement.
Keep currency, energy, rates and fees in their correct context. Estimates depend on entered assumptions and may omit costs that were not supplied. Review and export the records available in your workspace before relying on them elsewhere.
Current workspace capacity is 20 vehicles, 20 declared chargers, 300 manually recorded sessions, 100 saved stations and 20 trip outlines with up to 10 stops each, within 8 MiB of text records and activity. Archived records count toward these limits. The workspace keeps up to 500 recent activity entries and shows or exports the most recent 100.
Archive keeps a record available to restore. Permanent removal requires archiving first and typing DELETE RECORD; vehicle and charger references must be removed from other records before deletion. Resetting Charge requires DELETE CHARGE DATA. Exported JSON, CSV and maintenance-calendar files are personal working copies; a cost estimate or owner-recorded amount is not an operator receipt.
Your account’s privacy and deletion controls also apply. Downloaded copies remain under your control after they leave STATIC. Shared organizational control, automated invoicing and reimbursement are not established by creating private records.
Open your private workspace ↗06 / THE CHARGING RELATIONSHIP
Know who operates the charger.
The current release helps with discovery and your own charging record. It does not start or stop charging, reserve a plug, collect charging payments, issue a charging pass or operate a physical station network.
Actual charging, pricing, access and payment remain with the relevant operator. Future hardware, telemetry, roaming and payment features need real supported devices, authority, commercial arrangements and operating tests. Open protocol support alone would not establish those relationships.
Original hero and object artwork is illustrative. The unbranded vehicle and equipment do not depict an existing first-party STATIC station, certified product or announced partner location.
