## What this release covers

The Wall combines selected public video broadcasts with camera images published by official transport agencies. Search brings both into the same wall. Available networks are listed in Cams; coverage depends on the participating source and is not a complete directory of the world or of any country.

The default wall places scenic, wildlife, beach, city and space broadcasts first, followed by the connected traffic and weather views. Search and category filters let you go straight to a specific place or kind of camera.

A video preview does not confirm that a stream is live. Road and weather cameras commonly publish still images at intervals rather than continuous video. The source controls the camera, schedule and availability. No STATIC account is required.

## Search places, roads and intersections

Search matches the descriptions supplied by the connected catalogs. It does not locate your device, calculate nearby cameras or turn every address into a map search. Available networks can change when an upstream service is unavailable; some camera networks require additional authorization before they can be added.

1. Open /cams. Search a city, state, country, road, intersection, subject or agency name, then narrow the results by region or category.
2. For traffic views, try Austin, Texas, Sacramento, Caltrans, Finland or a street name. Agency camera names may use abbreviations, route numbers or the local language. Try one distinctive road or place name if a longer phrase is too specific.
3. Select a camera to enter Watch Mode. Use its source and license links for the original provider and reuse terms.
4. Clear the search or filters to widen a selection. An absent result can mean the connected agencies do not publish a camera for that place.

## Watch in the viewing room

Watch Mode opens one view in the large central screen. Previous, Next and the preview strip move through the current selection. Back to the wall closes the viewing room; pin a favorite without leaving it.

Video uses the broadcaster’s official YouTube player. In Watch Mode it attempts playback only while more than half the player is visible. If the browser blocks automatic playback, press Play camera. Loading an embedded video connects to YouTube and is subject to its privacy and playback policies.

An agency image is labeled as a refreshed image. Refresh image immediately requests the latest available image and shows progress, then reports when the image was received. This is not its capture time or proof that the frame changed. The operator may keep returning the same frame until its next update; a still-image feed cannot provide second-by-second video.

## Image updates and multi-view

Snapshot checks follow each connected network’s cadence. Austin images are typically published every five minutes and Fintraffic images approximately every ten minutes; Caltrans specifies an interval for each camera. A successful image request does not guarantee a new frame. Checks pause when the view is hidden, offscreen or paused.

Wall video players pause when offscreen, when the tab is hidden or when Watch Mode opens. Press Play in a wall player to resume it.

Pins use this browser’s storage and are separate from your STATIC account. They do not sync across devices. Anyone using the browser may see them; signing out does not erase them, and clearing site data removes them. If storage is unavailable, changes may last only for the current visit.

1. Choose Load players to load up to four views in the wall. Video players start muted and wait for Play; image views display agency snapshots.
2. Use a camera’s pin control to add it to your selection. You can pin up to four cameras, then open My Multi-view.
3. Choose Show previews to return to the preview wall. Use the pin control again to remove a favorite.

## Teleport and World View

Teleport opens a randomly selected view from the filtered results. Change or clear the filters to change its selection.

World View advances through the current selection every 30 seconds. Pause it to stay with a view. The tour pauses while the page is hidden. The selected view retains its own image-refresh or video-playback behavior.

## When a view is unavailable

For video, use Retry or Open broadcaster if the player cannot start. Broadcasts may end, move, show a replay or have playback restrictions. For a still image, use Refresh image or Open camera source. You can also choose another view.

Agency in-service and collection flags help filter the catalog, but they are not proof of a working camera image. Provider outages, stale frames and missing images remain possible. Views are informational and are not a substitute for official travel advice.

Cams does not provide private-device access, facial recognition or person tracking. statiCam hardware and private-device connections remain future work.

Coverage includes each connected agency’s eligible published inventory, not a hand-picked city list. Networks still awaiting authorization or a signed access agreement are not counted as connected. Where a camera’s time zone is not supplied or verified, the viewing room labels its clock UTC.

Other connected agencies are identified on their camera views with source and license information. Reuse terms vary by provider; an agency’s publication does not imply its endorsement of STATIC. Camera credits remain with their original operators.
