PHONE CONNECTION & PRIVACY
Your steps.
Your choice.
Updated October 29, 2026. This page describes the Steps phone integration and its current availability.
Current availability
The Steps website introduces the experience. Public iPhone and Android installation is not available yet. Automatic tracking requires the installed phone app and your permission; this website cannot directly read Apple Health or Health Connect.
Read-only step access
The phone app requests step-count access to advance your daily goal, missions and journey. It does not request heart rate, weight, medical records or GPS location. It does not write step records to your health app. There is no manual step-entry feature.
On your phone
Activity totals, your goal, journey and preferences are stored in the app’s private device storage. The current implementation does not upload your step records to STATIC, other members or advertising services. The activity-summary cache is excluded from iPhone backups; Android app backup is disabled.
Permission and missing data
You can decline or revoke permission in your phone’s health settings. Apple does not disclose whether read permission was denied; when no readable data is available, Steps shows that state instead of inventing a total. Android reports whether the required permission is granted. A disconnected or unreadable source does not create new progress.
Updates and reminders
The app refreshes activity when opened and uses platform background capabilities where permitted. Health records, background work and notifications can arrive late or be suppressed by phone settings. Optional reminders use your chosen active hours and goal, with no more than two proactive nudges per day. This is a walking app, not an alarm or emergency service.
Disconnect and delete
Disconnect in the installed app stops activity reads and scheduled walking reminders. You can also revoke access in Apple Health or Android Health Connect. Remove the app to remove its local working data, and clear this site’s storage to remove website preferences. Your health app’s original records are not deleted by Steps. The website stores only your chosen goal and preferences locally; clearing this site’s storage removes those preferences.
Digital keepsakes
Journey stamps and keepsakes are digital collectibles without cash value. Cash, gift-card redemption, health-data sharing, public leaderboards and cloud activity backup are not available in this release.
About STATIC Health
STATIC Health presents Steps as a walking and wellbeing experience within The STATIC Network. This does not indicate that a clinical care service or medical integration has launched. Your daily goal is your choice and is not a medical recommendation.
